The builder of this apartment project was
shocked when the masonry contractor entered his office and told the builder that the added
weight of the bricks on one of the porch columns caused eight inches of settlement!
It seems that the plumbing contractor excavated for the sewer line in the wrong place!
The footing for the porch column was installed near the improperly compacted pipe trench.
A major delay seemed at hand as the footing, column and porches would have to be
removed and replaced! That was until the builder called J & L Mudjacking Services.
Relief was as simple as ATLAS RESISTANCE PIERS! The column and porches
were restored with no demolition, and the project stayed on schedule! ATLAS

The top of the footing under the column
measured 16 by 32 inches. The footing was 36 inches thick. One ATLAS RESISTANCE
PIER was installed on each 32-inch side of the footing.
The column was gently raised to the original elevation. As the column raised, recovery
of the porches was obtained. After the restoration, the void under the footing was filled
with grout for additional stability.
These photographs
show the structure after the restoration. Construction continued on the apartments during
the installation of the ATLAS RESISTANCE PIERS, and the restoration of
the column and porches. The builder and the owner were pleased to have the project
completed without delay.
