The project required the relocation of 3500 feet of double line track rail line in a highly congested area in Shreveport, LA for Kansas City Southern. Key Constructors faced the task of multiple retaining walls in a variety of both locations, such as under a bridge viaduct with limited headroom, and changing soil conditions and elevations, throughout the project footprint.
As stated on Key Constructors website, this project had “Complicated construction, requiring unconventional pile driving methods, a tremendous amount of work in a confined area, while under an intensely short and sensitive schedule.”
Their previous experience with Helical Tiebacks gave them the confidence in knowing they would be able to control the length of the anchor, without the need for oversized installation equipment, and would not have the timely process of testing each individual anchor, thereby keeping the project on Critical Path. Actual anchor installation was completed ahead of schedule. Complicated construction requiring unconventional pile driving methods, a tremendous amount of work in a confined area, while under an intensely short and sensitive schedule.
